WHO WE ARE

A publishing business that has been creating fun and educational hands-on book experiences for children ages 2 to 12 for more than 30 years.

BRIEF HISTORY

The business was founded in 1983 as Joshua Morris Publishing, a collaboration of publishing veterans Josh Gaspero and Michael Morris. The Connecticut-based publisher was bought by the Reader's Digest Association in 1991 as part of a strategy to offer a new portfolio of products to RDA's direct-response audience. In 1998 the name was changed to Reader's Digest Children's Publishing, and during this time the business brought in new licensing partners, established a stronger retail presence, added many breakthrough book formats, and grew its custom publishing business. The business was acquired by Printers Row Publishing Group in 2016, and continues to create engaging and educational books and books-plus products sold throughout the United States and Canada, and through co-editions around the world.

OUR SPECIALTY

We are known as experts in the "book-plus" category. Our products today fall into two main categories:

Books bundled with toys, building supplies, craft supplies, or other unique items

Books that have unique production elements, such as flaps, foldouts, see-through windows, etc.

OUR BRANDS

The majority of our products are created in partnership with major international brands. Current partners include ASPCA®, Barbie, Disney, DreamWorks, Hasbro, Fisher-Price, Lucasfilm, Marvel Entertainment, Mattel®, My Little Pony, Nickelodeon, and Sesame Street.

OUR BUSINESSES

We have two primary business lines:

TRADITIONAL BOOK RETAIL SALES: Our products are found in most every store that sells children's books, ranging from Barnes & Noble and privately owned book stores to Walmart and Toys 'R' Us.

PACKAGING AND PROPRIETARY SALES: We create books and product bundles on behalf of several major publishers and retailers that then get sold under their name. Much of this business is to warehouse clubs.
